a suggestion for fast and easy readibility
discussions time stamps in a category should contain an icon (preferably with different colors)
A green triangle icon should indicate that discussion's last entry is max. 7 days old
A yellow circle icon should indicate that discussion's last entry is max 2 weeks old.
A red X icon should indicate that discussion's last entry is max 4 weeks old.
This way a user can easily see the discussions general 'up-to-date' status. Especially in categories which he/she didn't follow regularly.
If admins can set the for their own needs it will be much more useful
