Struggling to get login working

in Vanilla 2.0 - 2.8

My test url works, when clicked shows correct data. On the home page, it shows the authentication box with option to login as SSO user, I click it and it just opens a new window with ?display=popup in the address bar and the home page inside the window. Any thoughts for me to check?

    Sounds like there is a js making that link pop up the home page instead of the form.
    If you try to right click to open form in new window what happens?
    Please post a link to the install , post the numerical version of Vanilla , and what other plugins you may have enabled ?

    What theme are you using? This happens to me if using the EmbedFriendly theme but not when using Mobile or Default
