Upgrading from 2.0.18.3

I really need to update Vanilla as it is starting to fill up with spam. I can't really figure out how to stop it and think upgrading to the latest version would help. Can someone point to to some easy instructions so I can get up to date? Thank you!

The upgrade probably won't help with Spam issues, but searching this forum for 'spam' will give you a good idea of what might help.
There are multiple ways to upgrade. One of them is in the documentation. As long as you make backups, it's ok. Upgrade to 2.0.18.8 first...

Install the BotStop plugin and Peregrine's registration logger plugin.
Rely on Akismet and StopForumSpam plugins and last but not least : Your registration, to what is it set at the moment?
