Append the title and content into the URL
prendo
New
Hi guys, I hope this is not a big ask. I have a 3rd party system setup on my website that depends on this.
I need to be able to append a function onto the URL that will automatically fill in the content of the new post. This is an example of what I am after.
Note the ?title=This+is+the+topic+of+my+new+post appended onto the end of the URL.
This feature does not come stock with Vanilla Forums but as I said above, I could really benefit from it. I understand that this would require some modification to the forum's backend. I know pretty much know nothing relating the PHP programming language, that's why I am asking for someone to help me out.
Thanks!

So you mean to say that what you want is the url to look like this ?

That already happens and is part of the out of the box functionality .

No, if you click on my example link, I would like it to bring up the page that you would normally use to post a normal thread. However, with something appended onto the end of the link, it will automatically fill in the title of the new topic so that the user would not have to do it manually.
Please take a look at this discussion with a similar question posted last week: http://vanillaforums.org/discussion/24957/is-it-possible-to-start-a-new-discussion-with-pre-defined-title-and-tag
Add Pages to Vanilla with the Basic Pages app
Wow, thanks a bunch. I should have done a little searching before posting!
@prendo, no problem! It probably would have been hard to find via searching since the questions are worded a bit differently, but I remembered seeing the other discussion about something like this last week.

I'll close this one. Interesting subject
