You should definitely make the upgrade from the pre-releases to the final. There were actually a few important changes after pre-3 to do with some extensions that hadn't been entirely removed from the core - I discovered it when I was finalizing the extensions that had not yet been uploaded to the addon repos.
It's an easy upgrade - just get the new files and copy/paste them on top of your existing files. Your configuration files will remain intact.
Congrats on the release!
I had just started to seriously consider setting up a forum and this practically dropped into my lap. :)
I've got it running locally under OS X/MAMP till I find my way around.
I'm starting to think that launching on the weekend wasn't such a hot idea - esp considering that July 4 is tomorrow - a lot of people probably had the whole weekend, including monday, off of work and just aren't around to get the news. It will be interesting to see if it gets picked up on Wednesday or if it will have slipped by the wayside.
I'm also surprised that delicious hasn't picked it up yet...
Mark, considering that just for the 24 hours I've been away, I came back to 2 pages of fresh and discussion replies is enough of an indicator that many are getting it and will be getting it as the week progresses. I think this will penetrate fairly deep as more odd bugs crop up and get ironed out as well. Also, check the dev forum for some new ones, they're small, but still popping up.

By the way, are there any major changes from the pre-release version to Vanilla 1? Just curious!

I just want to get as many people aware of it as I possibly can.
When I eventually launch the hosted Vanilla service, I want to make enough money that I can work on the software full time.
