Changing Application Settings freezes my Vanilla

edited July 2006 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
Right. I upgraded my 0.9.3 site to 1 last night and I have hit a whole lot of probems. I will report on those at different times when I either resolve them or make sure it is not me. BUT, whenever I edit ANY of the settings under "Application Settings" in settings.php, then Vanilla causes my browser to "hang" on that task, and I need to reset my browser BEFORE I can do anything else with that vanilla install. I have tried on numerous installs, and each time is screws my browser (Safari + Camino + Firefox). Has anyone else experieced this and could anyone tell me the cause? The site is running on a Media Temple SS service with MySQL: 3.23.x, PHP: 4.3.x I'll give access to anyone if needed, just drop me a line.

  • Oh, and it is the changing of "Whispers On" and public/ private viewing and other settings like that. I am not changing the path to vanilla, cookie domain or the cookie path.

I have never heard of anything like that happening to anyone ever in the history of Vanilla before. That actually blows my mind, and I've gotta see for myself. Can I get access? Maybe whisper or email me with an admin account?

    Cheers.
  • From the sound of it, that's what happens when a bit of JS attempts to go into an infinite loop or takes too long to execute and forces most browsers to hang or lock up. Nathan, do you happen to recieve any messages in at least FireFox in the form of a warning to the extent of "this script is taking too long to execute..." at any time?
  • Mark, I'll whisper you your account info, but, I have this other problem, which makes me think Lech is on the money. Enabling/ Disabling extensions no longer works (just a check box) and all other AJAX (on the user pages, the sticky/ sink/ hide features etc.) are stuffed also. I have all the JS in there, but the upgrader did not work as smoothly for me as I would have liked.
