Master Admin view emails by default

edited July 2006 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
I recently upgraded from the older to the brand spanking new version of Vanilla. In the older version the Master Admin account could view all users emails by default in their profile. In 1.0 it seems that the email is only viewable after the user allows it to be viewable, even to the Master Admin. I think this is a bug or should be moved into an option for the user roles. Great forum software though

  • Hmmm, while this is true, I wonder if this was intentional or not.
  • I don't think it is because the master admin can still see their email by editing their personal details.
  • Ben while that's true, in default view mode you can't exactly "see" the email address as an admin unless they allow you to. While this is good to some respect in preventing admins from abusing their power. I think if a master admin needs to check 2 accounts, it seems to be a little more work with the potential for accidently saving new unwanted data to that users profile.

Not really 100% related, but I've been thinking about writing a new user administration addon. I've been finding that when I get between 50 - 100 applicants in a day, it gets pretty frustrating going from the search to account and back again. I want a single-page view of users that I can filter based on applicants or whatever. A basic table that spans the entire width of the screen and contains all relevant user information like username, email, discovery info, etc. Could be pretty useful.

But yeah, I can't remember why I got rid of the email for admins on the account screens, but I should definitely put it back in there.
  • I smell an alphabetical sorted user list extension in all of this
