Hello,
I just installed BotStop 1.0.1 (http://vanillaforums.org/addon/botstop-plugin) on my Vanilla forum (Version 2.0.18.10), and once BotStop is enabled, I get this error when clicking on : "Apply for membership" :

Bonk
Something funky happened. Please bear with us while we iron out the kinks.

Note : URL is (mywebsite.com)/forum/index.php?p=/entry/register&Target=discussions

Any idea on how to solve the problem ?

    reading the documentation.

    • bonk documentaion http://vanillaforums.org/docs/errors
    • you need to follow the instructions in some of the comments for the plugin if you want approval registration. it is not included in the plugin.
    • you need to copy /dashboard/views/entry/registerapproval.php to the plugins views and make similar mods as the other registrations.

    • and last but not least always better to go to the plugin and click on ask question in the add-ons.
that way others can easily see and learn from your question.

there is mention of a zip with approval which I removed, since the randomization number approval without alternating questions mod was no longer effective.

You need to copy /dashboard/views/entry/registerapproval.php to the plugins views and make similar mods as the other registrations.

if you want a customized mod with two alternating questions and a random number for the approval registration type. ....

edited: actually on second thought if you donate $10 or $20 to shadowdare for his new app (if it hasn't already been released) and he tells me he has received your donation. I will post a botstop with approval with 2 alternating questions and a random number which can be pretty effective.

I may not provide the completed solution you might desire, but I do try to provide honest suggestions to help you solve your issue.

  • Thank you for your answer.
I did all the modifications that you suggested in the other topic.
    Here is a ready-to-use version : https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/83031018/forum/BotStop.zip

How could we host such a ready-to-use version here (just below the regular "Download" button) : http://vanillaforums.org/addon/botstop-plugin

This would save 1 hour for future users that have had the same problem :)
