How many add-ons are too many?

edited July 2006 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
Just as the topic says, how many are too many? There are alot of great add-ons that are available, but I'm wondering how many I should install without really degrading the performance of Vanilla. Will the add-ons hurt the performance?

It all depends on the add-on. I haven't installed or used *all* of them, but the ones I've seen and used shouldn't degrade it really at all.

The only time you're going to see a major performance loss is when an extension performs a lot of queries to the database and it is on a popular page (like the discussion index).

You won't really reach a particular number of extensions and then start to see problems. It will typically be a single extension that causes you problems, and then you'll just have to stop using it or come to us about it and see if we can do anything to speed it up.
  • Thanks for the quick reply Mark. :)

Hahaha - I'm a born multi-tasker. I'm responding to stuff here, posting things to flickr, and also working on an intranet application for one of my clients.
