Help, urgently - I've done something stupid here. I am trying to embed the forum into an existing website. While fiddling about on the embed Vanilla plugin page, I stupidly selected both 'force page to be viewed remote URL' and 'don't embed'. Now when I log in as admin to the usual forum page and want to go to the Dashboard, the Dashboard disappears after a split second and I can't make any changes, nor look up what the exact remote URL is. I'm lost.

Go into your conf/config.php file and revert the the original settings.
ForceUrl =FALSE
Don't Embed dashboard =FALSE
this will disable those settings and revert to the default.
After doing this , delete the .ini files in the cache
