Feature Request!

edited July 2006 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
I'm in the process of setting up and skinning Vanilla for my hosting website, and whilst I love it, there is one notable feature missing. That is, a more robust permission system. Rather than a blanket 'participate' option, I would love it if as an Administrator I could allow Guests to for example read, but not write to the Testimonials section. Maybe for a future version? • It's been requested many many times before, lukeb. So far while it's under consideration, it's implimenting it which could pose as a problem.
  • I'd love more "granular" permissions. As it is now, I have to make lots and lots of silly roles ans silly categories to achieve the same effect. Clearly sub-optimal!
  • I just posted my successful hack for solving this problem, and it's a very minor change - maybe 20 lines of code in various files. http://lussumo.com/community/discussion/2707/hack-readonly-categories/#Item_1 - Davey
  • What I'm looking for is really a way to assign read/write permissions to individual users, not just groups.
