To all people who want(ed) to hire me

edited July 2006 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
Some people have asked me to develop extensions for money, but I've decided not to do this. A) I think all extensions should be free for use, and no money should be made over Mark's back B) I only like to program extensions which more users can benefit from C) I don't have that much time and don't want to be tied up to some deadlines (I have enough at my real job :P) This doesn't mean I don't like your ideas. Some of them are even very nice to have, and maybe I will pick it up and make them for free anyway :) But like I said: Lussumo is about freeware, and I want to support that by not making extensions for money. Thx for your time, Jazzman

    One meelyon dollars...?
  • Okay,

    -- start crazy idea --
what if you did them for a sizable donation to lussumo? then it could be divided up between the main developers?
    -- end crazy idea --

I know what you are saying though. Your philosophy of following the lussumo philosophy is fine by me! (man that sounds strange).
  • /me can only applaude Jazzman. I think that's quite the right way to go - respecting the philosophy of the whole thing. ...and also about not wanting to be tied up by "i must develop this now" ;-)

What you need is Mark to hire you, so people can hire him, and he would then be indirectly hiring you, as would they?
  • Things to do: Obtain Canadian Citizenship...
  • Have you considered the ransom method of publishing? You can use www.fundable.org, set a ransom and when the ransom is paid release the extension to the public as open source.
  • lol... ransom method... sounds cool :P
  • Awesome!
  • greets, i think its not a big thing and fair enough to take "little money" (even as donation) for a huge amount of invested work and time. don't get me wrong, i'm talking about the "advanced" plugs and not really about the 10 minute fun coding stuff. cheerio :D
