[req] Member Status

edited July 2006 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
This is a COMPLETELY trivial request, but I was wondering if it'd be possible to craft an extension that would allow the user to put in a one-line "status message" that would then display next to the user's name in posts and on their account page. I basically ripped the idea from Facebook, but I think it would be a neat idea. ...Unfortunately, I don't know any PHP, so I don't know how to do it.

  • Does the Signatures plugin do something very similar to that?

Perhaps it could be modified to show next to the users name rather than at the bottom of comments, and on the account page also.

  • That's the basic idea, yeah. The way it's setup on Facebook, it says "(Yourname) is _____." I assume it wouldn't be very hard to switch it around, but once again, I don't know PHP. =o)

it had that at some point early on? I remember Mark putting a "I am a complete and utter douchebag" on someone.. minisweeper?

it had to do with assigning roles.
  • That's the role tagline.
  • Yeah, that's also static for anyone in a particular role, right? I was looking more for something the user could change when they want.
