Trouble Getting Started

edited July 2006 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
I watched the tutorial, and I understood all of it. However, there is something I can't do right at the beginning, before the tutorial even starts. I have uploaded the Vanillat folder into the root directory of my new domain on bluehost.com. First question, Is the root directory the right place? Now, I'm having trouble getting to the index.html file to get started. If someone can help me to start, I'm sure I can finish. I moderate another Vanilla forum on a different server, but this is my first first installation. Thanks for letting me ask such a simplistic question. I appreciate you not making fun of me in advance. :P

  • It doesn't matter if you put it in the root or a subdirectory. Vanilla will automatically see that and set the configuration parameters accordingly during the installtion. The first page you want to open is indeed the <strong>index.php</string> file. This will redirect you to the setup directory if you haven't completed the installation process.
  • yes tutorial for newbies should start with something like this "first. choose a suitable folder to install it yourdomain.com\ yourdomain.com\vanilla yourdomain.com\awesomeforum
