"Bittersweet" + New Comment icon

Hello everyone,

I just (successfully and miraculously) upgraded to 2.1.5 at my forum (crisisforums.org), and now use the "bittersweet" theme that comes built in.

However, I've noticed that when the discussion remains unread, no little yellow "new comment" icon appears if someone posts a comment into it. Is there anyway I could arrange it so that the yellow icon appears regardless if the discussion has been read or not?
