One button instead of two

There is wonderful way to show one big button with to options ("New discussion" and "Ask a Question") on this vanillaforums.org fotum. How to do the same instead of two different big buttons?

One Button adds a new discussion, the other adds a new question. They both do different things.

What you want is a drop down option like on this forum to select one or the other.
