Extension Idea: Friends
In many of the forums I participate in there are a few users I follow closely (an obvious example on this forum is Mark). To make it easier to track what those people are writing, I just created a simple extension called User Filters that adds links to each Account page to see that user's latest discussions or comments (full disclosure: it was actually AssProphet's idea here).
Now, to compliment that I'm thinking it would be helpful to be able to 'bookmark' my favorite users (i.e., friends) just like you can currently bookmark discussions. The interface could probably work alot like bookmarking does: on each Account page a logged in user would see a Control Panel link that toggles 'Add to Friends'/'Remove from Friends'. A list of the users I've chosen as friends would appear on my own Account page, and clicking on a name would take me to that person's account page (where I could then use the extension above to see their latest discussions/comments).
I'm thinking I'll get started on this, but I'm still a newbie at coding extensions so I thought I'd throw it out here. If anyone has an interest in this and wants to take it on you're welcome to--I'm sure 90% of the folks on this board could get it done before I figure it out. :-)
If anyone else has reactions/suggestions let me know and I'll see if I can incorporate them.

As for linking directly to the user filter, I considered that but there are actually multiple filters (discussions and comments) so the account page seemed to provide more flexibilty.
