Any way to get "ReplyTo" addon to work in 2.1?

As near as I can tell from questions and comments on the addon, this stopped working after 2.0.18.
It would be... hugely beneficial to my forums, but I honestly can't tell how hard it would be to get back to up 2.1 fighting trim. Anyone want to take a stab at a dev-hours estimate?

Have you tried fixing it yourself ?

Hi,
2.0.18 back in 2011 is the last version I used this plugin on, so have not updated it for any later versions of Vanilla.
However, looking through the main Vanilla git repository two years ago, I did notice that the posts are now structured using the same nested sets tree model I used in this plugin. So I kind of assumed that nested comments were to become a core feature of Vanilla. I may be wrong there.
The source for this plugin is here:

Feel free to fork it, change it, add to it etc. Pull-requests would be helpful, as other people are watching that repo, but don't feel obliged. It you do, then I'll create some release snapshots to keep it tidy.
Best of luck :-)
PS I like to comment my code, so it should be pretty easy to follow. But I'm here if you have any questions.
Actually, in poking around at this, I ran across a very eloquent argument in favor of flat comments that totally deflated any desire I had for getting this function working.
Thanks for your input, everyone.
