Category Permissions

edited August 2006 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
Hey, this is my first post in the community. I'm really interested in Vanilla. It's very clean and simple compared to other major forum software, and I love that. It also seems really extensible, and that's a definite plus for me. Anyway, one thing I thought it was lacking compared to other forums was category permissions.. For example, only letting Administrators create new discussions in a certain category, so that ordinary members can only add comments. I was unable to find an extension or setting for this, so I was wondering if it was possible to create one? Thanks, and I appreciate all you extension authors :)

  • Yeah, I'm looking for a categories permissions plugin too: My main need is wanting to set a required x amount of posts before users can post in a certain category (ie, Marketplace)
  • "For example, only letting Administrators create new discussions in a certain category, so that ordinary members can only add comments" As discussed before. You could create admin-only category where they could read and discuss. But others would not see it. So far, so good. It's not 100% what you expected but it's something.
  • I want to let users create categories...is this hard to do?
  • Just give them the permission in the 'Roles & Permissions' settings.
  • im an idiot...thanks
