Plugin: Add button to top bar, on mobile view

Hi,
On mobile view, the forum has a top bar that looks like this. I circled the "New discussion" button.
How can I add another similar button up there, next to existing "New discussion" button, via a Vanilla Plugin (without changing vanilla core)? Is it possible?

What is it you want to achieve?
One way would be to create your own mobile theme (a lot more straightforward than it might sound!)

You could then add new menu items in the defaultmaster.tpl file.
