There is a fat line or block on top of my start page

Hello!

Here’s the starting page of my forum, GlobalType. What way could i use to remove that line?

The second item is the double »Home« button on the page. I would love to delete both of them and, insted, give the logo that functionality.

TIA

Lars

    What you deem as a double is called the breadcrumbs link which you can remove by editing the custom.css file of the theme.

    Try my version of this theme and see if you like it better

    Thanks for your version that you offered to me. But that does not really fit to my aesthetic ideas.

    Again my question: I see the breadcrumb navigation, and I’m understanding what it does. But why is there a double »Home button«? I only need the bradcrumbs, nothing more. Could you help me deleting that black element with the white word »Home« in it on the very top of my page?

    Ok whatever, have you tried to use a web inspector ? it will be handy since you don't seem to look at the source files of your site.

    If you were the least bit curious, you would look in the theme files for the answer. But maybe you are new to html and the ilk or google and have no idea so here it is, look in the file from the theme called default.master.tpl and edit or erase whatever you want. Then if you do not want the black line , look into the custom.css file and change it to however you need by finding line 20 or so in the custom.css file of your theme and change to this :

    #Frame > .Top {
    background:transparent;
    padding: 0 20px;
    text-align: left;
    line-height: 2.4;
    }

    this is the link you are talking about

     <div class="TopMenu">
            {home_link}
            <!--
            You can add more of your top-level navigation links like this by removing the stupid < !-- comments:

            <a href="#">Store</a>
            <a href="#">Blog</a>
            <a href="#">Contact Us</a>
            -->
          </div>

    Please learn how to use a web inspector to edit your website style.

  • O.k., thank you! I usually prefer Safari as my Web Browser. Is there a web inspector? I think yes, but in my German version it is called »Entwickler« (developers).

    I really don’t have so much experience in HTML, I’m coming from print media.

    You might want to take a look at the community wiki for the basics of Vanilla customisation.

    The CSSedit plugin makes it very easy to make these changes in a bootstrap theme:

    prefer Safari as my Web Browser. Is there a web inspector?

    Yes there is , it is Under the Develop tab and is called Web Inspector. You can also access it by right clicking on the element you want to edit and select inspect element from the drop down menu so the console opens and you can see the source code.

    I recommend you read the tutorial section or take some tutorials on the web. Otherwise you will be flying blind...

    Thanks so far for your kind help. A friend of mine will fix all that problems. I will pay for that.
