How to hide subcategories?

Hello! 
I have nearly 50 subcategories and the list is know very big on index,
so how can I hide them for all users? The sub should be just showed when the click on the categories.

Not really but it looks cool. I will test it out, may I take this.
When u go to http://retro-geek.de/forum/ u will see no "N64" on the left. But when u click on "Alle Kategorien". I wish to hide the subcategories from this too. Just when you click on http://retro-geek.de/forum/categories/konsolenspiele u should see the N64 subcategorie. May its easier to understand now?
