Ok, here's a story for you to read and comment on 
i used to manage a IPB forum and recently have been looking into Vanilla as well as SMF. As far as I have discovered, I can make a really nice looking forum with Vanilla, see below:
But it seems to lack some of the simple modifications I can make in SMF like having left and right items as well as centre. Is it just then a matter of finding a better template to use and then populate it with features.
Is there something like a recommended list of plugins that are a must have to use with Vanilla.
