Vanilla / jsConnect installation required - plus, what is jsConnect asking for?

Firstly, if anyone can install Vanilla and jsConnect on my server, I would be willing to pay for help. The site is a single domain, non-standard CMS, and visitors not logged in should not be able to view the forum.

Meanwhile, I am trying to get it to work myself. The documentation says that jsConnect calls my authorization page, and I have to provide a response. But I don't see how I can tell which user jsConnect is trying to check up on. I see four GET variables, but I would have expected that one of them would tell me which user jsConnect is asking about, but I don't see it.
