BBC and HTML coding

We are currently using Drupal to manage our forums and are migrating to Vanilla.

One question, is BBC coding available with Vanilla?
I've tried using it here in a message to myself , it does not work and I've tried it on our test system. Same results.
Is BBC something that can be enabled? available via a Add on? or not applicable in Vanilla??

We have thousand of forum threads/comments that are loaded with BBC code

open your conf/config.php and change

$Configuration['Garden']['InputFormatter'] = 'BBCode'; // Html, BBCode, Markdown, Text
