File Upload with 2.1.11

Hello. No matter what I do I cannot make any version of File Upload work. I have downloaded both versions of File upload also and neither work. It's hosted on Fasthosts so I cannot change the APC PHP thing. Is there any alternative way of having a working attachments plug in or should I look to downgrade to version 2.1 of Vanilla? Any help greatly appreciated thanks

both the 1.5 and the 1.8 I think it is. will do your thing now and see how I get on (after 3 coffees!!!)
Yay! It works! two days of struggling and not even had a coffee! Thank you!
It's a real shame they still leave version 1.5.2 in the add-ons and decided to ignore a pull request to make it work with vanilla 2.1.x. It just wastes people's time.

Downloading the files individually from the Github website as suggested in another post also proved problematic as it kept breaking my site. Your download worked fine.
