code upgrades

hi nav, it's ithcy from o8. and tw. first, congratulations on the vanilla release. it's fantastic. i really love it. i have a question about upgrades. i'd like to add functionality to my own vanilla install to check for and optionally apply upgrades automatically. i could obviously find out if an upgrade is available by scraping the getvanilla.com download link, but do you think in the future you might serve a feed or a little textfile with the latest version number and possibly md5sum or something?

    I was actually hoping to build something like that myself - but if you wanted to take it on I'd love to see what you come up with. Of course I'd be willing to help in any way.
