I am going to feel so foolish when this is answered. But here goes. On my installation in "http://user.local/filebrowser/index.php", the Filebrowser app only views the contents of its own folder. Can I navigate up a level? I wouldn't want to place all the files loose in my root, so ...uh ... can someone enlighten me about what I am missing? edit: I am running PHP Version 5.0.4 (www.entropy.ch Release) on OS X 10.4.5.

    You cant navigate up levels above/below (depending how you think about it) the filebrowser root.

    You can't go higher than the level that filebrowser is at. Eg

    If you have http://localhost/random/monkey/cheese/ and filebrowser is in cheese. You can't use filebrowser to see what's in monkey.

    edit: Of course mini puts it much more succintly. However, I did involve animals and dairy products.

    Right. So just to be clear - place the files loose in your top level directory?

    Yeah. The reason I don't allow the Filebrowser to look in it's parent directories is because then people could navigate your entire filesystem and see things they shouldn't.

    Not allowing people to see things is why I've renamed the main file so that only I know the address.
