Applicant Process not working as expected

I have SSO enabled from my wordpress site to my forum. I have the registration process set to 'approval' in Vanilla and email confirmation off.

When someone registers they don't have an issue & their account is added to my WP users list; however, on the Vanilla Forum dashboard I would expect that I would get a notification of a pending applicant and I do not. HOWEVER, if that new user logs into the forum I get 2 applicant notifications for that same user, this is driving me crazy.

I'm assuming it has something to do with my config.php or my config-defaults.php but I can't figure it out.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
