Discussion/Comment body in notifications
fcheslack
New
The emailed notifications I get with Vanilla 2.2.1 do not include the body of the comment. Instead it contains only the "X commented on Y Follow the link to check it out" text. I noticed the notifications I get for this forum include the full comment.
I notice that the notifications seem to potentially use 'Story' from the Activity table, but that is null for all our comments.
I'm wondering if the behaviour I'm seeing is intended or a bug. If it is intended, I wonder if there is a plugin or setting to get the behaviour I'm looking for.
Thanks

if you mean you want a full text notification instead of a link. there is a config statement, unless you are talking about something different.

Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you. (I swear I searched for that answer, and looked at the config defaults before posting).
great!
the config defaults are not a full list of config statements, just some of the common default settings needed.
you should have searched the click! [FAQ] in the tutorials category (https://vanillaforums.org/discussion/28420/frequently-asked-questions "FAQ") click!
sometimes hard to find exact wording when searching.

I certainly would have if I'd known it existed. Am I blind or is it not linked to anywhere but other discussions? Perhaps it should be included in the help text on the 'New Discussion' page.
Does that list exist somewhere that is maintained (for the core)?
If not I guess I can just grep the core myself, since my flailing around when a simple config change is all I need has happened more than once.
yes, it might help alot of people. to have a link to the "unofficial faq" there.
Some things are not obvious as they could be. since it wasn't produced by staff they don't have official links, but it is in tutorials category and all are "unofficial". I suppose it could be made an announcement in the Tutorials category without doing much harm to anyone or stepping on any toes. But it might just be too hard to do.
so

there was a wiki once and no "official link" to it either. I think it is off the air now. You can see links in people's signatures - some are also broken links

other unofficial documentation of old but valuable documentation. some out of date, some not, but more in depth than official docs which strive for brevity.

I guess it is up to each user to determine what is the best way to find info and happening upon a good link if it is not official. and a learning curve for new users if they don't know how to search.
not much interest by staff to have a complete "config" list. https://vanillaforums.org/discussion/comment/172015/#Comment_172015
but yes grep for a complete list : https://vanillaforums.org/discussion/comment/171978/#Comment_171978
or via a good tool here - spreadsheet https://vanillaforums.org/discussion/comment/207335/#Comment_207335
