v2.3 2 plugin questions

I seen a vanilla forum and the users showed up at the bottom of the discussions who was online.. I have tried all the online plugins but the only one that worked was icon online... also I seen that the forum had icons by the categories but i am unable to locate the plugin or if the template is just old

Online now only shows images and its in a side panel I am looking for the one that is username text only and its under the posts

It can be made to only show name, however it should show name in a tooltip when you hover the image . Replace $Photo with $Name in the plugin ..

I did as you said and got a critial error

Well, what can I say I did not test that. Did you disable it before you edited it ? You should always disable before editing, and then delete the .ini files before enabling it.

Maybe look at the plugin Who'sOnline which does not work in 2.3 but you can see where you may have made a mistake ...

What do you use to edit files ? You should use something like Sublime Text 2 because it shows you in colored text when there is a mistake in the syntax...
