PDF file attachment info is lost?

When I upload PDF files as attachments to posts on my recently updated (2.3.1) forum, the upload occurs and everything seems to be fine. All is not fine however, and when Post Discussion is clicked the attachment is lost. The file is uploaded correctly under uploads/editor, but nothing is added to either the GDN_Media or GDN_Attachments tables, so it doesn't show in the post.
