Integrating WP and Vanilla login and customising Vanilla

Hello! I have a few questions, this is not really my domain so excuse any wrong use of terms, etc.

I am currently looking to add a forum to a WordPress site. We want to host the forum separate from the main site, but link it. The important things we are looking for in the forum are that the user only has to create one login for both the WP site and the forum. I see that there is a plugin for this (https://wordpress.org/plugins/vanilla-forums/). We also want the forum to be customised to our site (colours, etc) and that the topics are well organised and easily searchable. Also is there a user management system in WP that works best with the Vanilla Forum?

Am I in the right place? Is there someone I could find to help me set all this up?

    Welcome to the community.

    I've edited your thread title to make it mere obvious what the question is.

    I don't have WP, so hopefully someone else can comment on that plugin.

    Otherwise, single sign on can be achieved using the addon jsConnect: https://open.vanillaforums.com/addon/jsconnect-plugin

    Vanilla can be customised very easily.
