I'm currently trying to embed a Vanilla Forums installation into WordPress using the official plugin. The forum itself runs fine, but the page with the embedded forum won't show anything. Chrome Developer tools show a 404 to index.php?p=/&...
I tried to hack the embed.js file so that it loads index.php/?p=discussion/&..., but that breaks other functionality (e. g. viewing individual threads).

You need to fix the htacces file and several other things and it will work great.. look at the Tutorial section for 404 errors...
