manual install of vanilla?

edited August 2006 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
Hi, I'm new to Vanilla, but it seems perfect for my needs. I followed the installation instructions, but when I get to the screen to create the database and enter the information in correctly it tells me that it coud not connect to the server: "We couldn't connect to the server you provided (localhost). The database responded with the following message: Access denied for user: 'gsvan@localhost' (Using password: YES)" Is it possible to create the database myself and manually install Vanilla?

  • I think the username you are using don't have enough permissions to create the tables or it isn't assigned to the database you are trying to install to ... also I think it is possible to manually install it .. you will find all the info you need in the installer file in setup directory ...
  • eh, I got it. The problem was, as usual, me.
  • I didn't know Vanilla could create the database for you. I personally created it myself and just passed along the information to Vanilla during the install. Worked like a charm.

The installer doesn't create the db for you - you need to make it yourself.
