[Troubleshooting] How to fix an installation error

Hello, I'm new on Vanilla Forums,
when I'm on the installation page when I click continue it says me the following error:

|Gdn_Database|Query|select * from GDN_Permission
Permission where RoleID = :RoleID and JunctionTable is null
order by RoleID asc limit 1

Please help me!

Additional info:
PHP version: 7.0.26
Database version: 10.2.12-MariaDB - MariaDB Server
Vanilla version: 2.5.1

  • I tried to reinstalling the forum but it not seems to work...

    Welcome to the community.

Have you created the empty database for Vanilla to install into?

At what point in the process do you get this error?

Is there more of an error message than the part you have posted?

  • Also new to Vanilla and just about everything else. Installed to 000webhost by FTP to the /public_html directory. Renamed the .htaccess.dist to .htaccess, unmodified. Clicked on the URL and the Installer opened. Created the empty database through the host's database manager and inputted parameters to Installer. Had same error as OP but that got resolved. Now I get this message on the next page ./dashboard/setup:
    |Gdn_Database|Query|select * from GDN_User User where UserID = :UserID
Or I sometimes get a 502 Bad gateway error.

I opened phpMyAdmin on the database and I see entries in the GDN_user and GDN_permission tables so it is (or was) connected.

I've looked for a blow-by-blow installation procedure but cannot find one. Any clues as to what might be wrong?

    Tom
