This Vanilla Forum to use email notification?

edited September 2006 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
Hello

Apologies if this has been raised before but I did a quick search and didn't find anything.

I was wondering now that there's an notify extension, would it be useful to implement it on this forum now?

Notwithstanding issues of server load etc, it would be a good way for members who don't (or can't) frequently visit here to keep track of responses

Also, this support forum in effect 'advertises' the features of a forum. I understand that vanilla is minimalist cool and like it for that, but email notifications may help to both maintain & expand the user base here?

  • I think notification extensions could take this forum either way as far as activity goes. People might check back less cause they just wait for emails or more cause they get emails and come look around. Regardless, I'm pretty sure it'd put excessive load on the server and I'm sure Mark isnt too keen to do that. What's more, if people cant even be bothered to check back for answers to their problems then they dont really deserve the help anyway :P

I'm not *totally* opposed to it, but I have my reasons for holding off on this (for now, at least).
