"Google Analytics" vs. "Sidepanel"

edited September 2006 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
I have been using the "Sidepanel" add-on to add the Google Analytics code to my Forum. I just saw that now there is a specific "Google Analytics" add-on. Can someone explain what is the difference between the add-ons, and if there is any benefit in using one over the other? Many thanks in advance!

  • as long as what you've got is working for you, there's no reason to change.
the only difference would be that the google analytics add-on places the scripts in the head instead of the body.
  • @itchy: thank you for the explanation! :)
  • Now I feel like one of those... newbs... but, I can't seem to find the original Google Analytics extension discussion. So, I'll post my question here:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_CONSTANT_ENCAPSED_STRING in /homepages/36/d105944992/htdocs/wmw/people/extensions/GoogleAnalytics/default.php on line 15

I get this error after putting in my account # into the default.php file. Any thoughts?
  • paste the line containing your acct# here exactly as you have it. you (or i) probably left out quotes or something.
