Discussions and Comments Counts

Hello! I'm working on another forum install:

http://forums-dev.cessnaowner.org/categories/general-discussion-public

After a port from vbulletin, I noticed, for example in the above link, that Discussions and Comments counts are at 0 even though that is not true.

I went ahead and made a couple tests posts in 'For Sale / Wanted' and now the counts are: discussions 2, comments 1.. so they are picking them up accordingly from here forward.

I found this odd, because if you go to the home page, same thing.

What's interesting though is that if you click into a category, the 'views and comments' are accurate.

Any ideas as to how to fix this?

TIA,
Donovan

Not sure if I understand the question (language barrier :bawling: ). If you visit http://forums-dev.cessnaowner.org/dba/counts the counts get recalculated.
if you experience a delay between your actions and what is displayed, I guess that there is a threshold of 5 or 10 views or posts, I don't remember, that are cached before the count is updated.

  • Thanks, that was perfect!

  • Hi @R_J - is there a way to reduce that threshold so that it will increment with each post made? Thanks

I was simply wrong with that assumption. I've mixed it up with another setting which only is used for determining if discussion count is directly written to database or cached in memory for a while. See that comment for explanation. But that would have nothing to do with the discussion count a user sees.
