How do I install Italian locale?? 2.6.1

I recently tried to install the multilingual locale in my cpanel and my site crashed completely. Had to un-install and re-install the whole forum from scratch....

How do i avoid crashing my site and upload this Italian locale? Thank you in advance

2. move to /locales
3. enable in dashboard

Avoid using autoinstallers like Softaculous.

Ok thank you...does the current Italian locale and multilingual compatible with 2.6.1?
I have two files - one is a mutilingual the other the Italian..

Also i have two locales - one is website/locales the other is Vanilla/locales..which one?

I unzipped the Italian addon - there are 6 .php files and 1 .png file...do I upload all of them into locales?

I don't know your directory structure, but Vanilla/locales sounds like the right one.
In that case, multilingual belong into Vanilla/plugins, because it is a plugin, not a locale.

Ok..the multilingual plugin - gives me this file: class.multilingual.plugin.php

The directory structure should look like this:

/locales
    /vf_it
/plugins
    /multilingual
        /class.multilingual.plugin.php
    [...]
[...]

Ok thanks - yes I created a ‘Multilingual’ folder then uploaded the class.multi file...there was a .png file as well

Ok all done..I can see the multilingual in the ‘Addons’ - i activated it, but nothing has happened - does it take some time to work? Or is it just not working? - I can give you the link to my forum, and make you administrator to help me.. of course if you charge - we can discuss that privately. - but so far nothing is happening - what am I supposed to see with multilingual plugin in the main area?

You need to install all of the other locales that you want to provide to your users. Multilingual just adds the option for users to change between the locales you have installed.

Ok so with the Italian one I have six .php files and one .png. I have to create a folder right? Italian? Then upload all the files into the folder, is this correct?

Or the folder name Vf-it-locale?

In cpanel - I have /website/plugins/multilingual/ etc and website/locales/ . Do i install the Italian locale in the plugin folder or the locale folder?

Ok sorry - just saw the image above...thank you will go ahead now - vf_it - got it

All installed - so website/public_html/locales/Vf_it/ - i installed the 5 .php, 1 .png, 1 .svg .......
Cannot see anything yet in the forum

It thought it was a /Vanilla/subfolder? Do the locales appear in the dashboard (/dashboard/settings/locales)?
Generally you should just keep the folder structure from the .zip files.

The Vanilla folder is not there now...it was there yesterday before i re-installed Vanilla...now I cant see it anymore - SUCCESS!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!! This is awesome...im onto other languages now!!! Thank you -

I dont know what happened yesterday - the whole site crashed - obviously because I didnt know what I was doing - and thats when the Vanilla folder appeared...but now after I re-installed Vanilla again - i didnt check last night and assumed the Vanilla folder was still there.

I looked again about 30mins ago and noticed it was gone?? I dont know why or how...but anyway - everything is working well now - thanks again.

@Bleistivt hey my apologies for so many questions...the languages are not working - i can see them in the forum down the bottom, but they cannot be activated -

Ok..reload everything - i have had some success! The dates change language however discussions do not change - are they supposed to? Not sure how the multilingual thing works.....
