Changing The Sort Order on Homepage

edited September 2007 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
I'm sticking this in Add-on Requests since I don't think they're about to change Vanilla for one little requestion. I'd love to sort threads strictly by the order in which they were created (newest on top), and not by the order of the last comment. IOW I want to stop newly commented threads from "bumping" to the top. For an example of this in action, check out: http://www.crazyontap.com/ You can add a comment to the last topic on a page, and it stays the last topic on the page. Thanks.

  • As a semi-solution, you could just sink all new discussions.
  • wouldn't you just have to change the sql query?
  • Pretty much.
  • Yeah... so how would you change the sql query? I know that's what you need to do, I just don't know where or how. (I'm not a programmer, but I play one on TV)
  • there are CommentBuilder_PreSelect and CommentBuilder_PreWhere delegates that you can attach to... look in library/Vanilla/Vanilla.Class.CommentManager.php. Haven't tried attaching to these to modify the query yet, but I know the Comment Protection extension does.
  • Is there a simple way to make that discussions Order on Homepage ?
  • I think this does what you want: http://lussumo.com/addons/index.php?PostBackAction=AddOn&AddOnID=197
