Installing Vanilla

I was trying to install vanilla forum and I get this error message
"The connection parameters you specified failed to open a connection to the database. The database reported the following error:
SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Temporary failure in name resolution"

my web site dont have a domain yet. I used my ip in the database host field..help me to fix this
