    My prediction: WS Video iPod

    My hope: Apple Media Center

Well, if they *don't* have widescreen video iPods, Mr. Jobs will be lucky to get out of there alive.

When I saw the "It's Showtime" subtitle, I got all excited. I've wanted a Windows Media Center killer for a long time. Windows Media Center has so much potential but just falls short in every way possible. I can't wait for the day when you buy a computer instead of a TV. Or better yet, TV's aren't sold anymore.
  • Even if they do end up with some kind of media center, it won't have a TV Tuner.

I realize that. But every step counts.
  • This is looking pretty pathetic.

So far, yeah. Show me something awesome.

Hahaha - gizmodo and engadget are buckling under the pressure. LOL.
  • That'll teach them to not have a lightweight ajax newsfeed.
  • Cheap smaller nanos (though imo they looked better before) and longer battery lives across the board. Anything else?

A couple of nice new features in iTunes.

And yeah, the new nanos are pretty fugly.

New iTunes. Available sometime today. Brighter screens on video ipods. Different navigation of music library available on ipods. Nothing too huge. The latest thing: you can download movies from itunes store for 12.99 when new or 9.99 after two weeks. like. wow. *pfffft*

Good luck burning them to dvd, or playing them outside of itunes though.

EDIT: right as I said that, he announced the streaming box thing.
  • "We need to come up with a better name"

    >_<

    802.11 what? b? g?
  • edited September 2006
wooha! I knew it! I get to look smart in front of my friends who could give a shit one way or another! Until I own one.... Then they get intrigued.
  • If it's still running b then it's utterly pointless. Even g wont cope with a proper HD feed in real time will it? Looks pretty sexy though. Shame it's literally just a thin client.

    That's my concern, mini. Exactly.

The signal is DVD quality; 480p tops. If they can stream a full movie over the internet in 30 minutes, they can stream it over a local wireless connection in less time.
  • So what's the HDMI output for? It should be running atleast 1080.
