Hi clever,
I built the biggest baby community in my country all by myself.
The challenges and difficulties ahead heavily depend on what type of community your are going to set up. What are your goals and dependent on those... what types of work, skills and resources do you need to manage every day to reach this goal.
What is your scope?
I plan to create the forum for medical discussion in my collage...
The work involved in maintaining a forum, once you have set it up, is minimal.
If your forum grows, I would say the key thing is to have a trustworthy group of moderators.
Think about choosing group of mods from trustworthy users when you have the forum growing.
Also look for any addons that stop spambots...
Spambots will trash your forum if left to run wild posting.
Gluck!
From a more technical perspective, I would say that using plugins and running updates is another thing you need to be aware of. Vanilla is paying bug bounties, so that security issues get public some time after a patch has been published. You really should update the Vanilla version as frequently as possible.
Third party addons may a) not be compatible with newer versions or b) have unpatched security issues.
But all of the above is not Vanilla or even forum script specific: it is something you must be aware of for every web software you are using.
Thanks much...I will keep it on mind
Okay I get it..thank you
