Category comment counts are negative after posting via API

I've been loading some old discussion into my Vanilla 3.1 forums and I noticed that after I created discussions posted the comments using the API, the categories in that contain the discussions show the correct number of discussions but show a negative number of comments.
I should also note as part of the process I deleted discussions via the normal web interface (to fix issues with the migration program and try again for all the comments in a discussion).
How do I force the recounting of the comments so that each category displays the correct number of comments?

log in as admin and visit yourforum.com/dba/counts
