How to increase Vanilla 3.3 Max post length? it is possible to remove the limit?

You should go to Console / Posting and then increase max length as you wish.

Remove the limit is not a good idea because users could publish gigantic texts.

That is for all posts as I understand. Try to change max length and check result.

I've set to 50,000 the character length, but stop at 9k only. that are still short. any recommendation?

Check this page: conf/config.php to make sure it really says 50, 000. Using the admin settings interface has limitations and does not really work for such huge numbers, you have to manually input it.

$Configuration['Vanilla']['Comment']['MaxLength'] = '50000';

It is also worth noting that 50k is about as high as you can go as the text field in the database can only hold 64kb. That's somewhere between 16.000 characters if all you use to communicate is emoji and 64.000 for regular latin text. You also have to subtract a few characters for the JSON if you are using rich editor.
