i know you're doing a site for your students... i ran into this today and thought you might be interested, and seems more suited to your purpose than vanilla, out of the box. http://moodle.org/

    You are probably right, but I'm using Vanilla two-fold. One for my students (which I pretty much have up and running) and one for another site. My students are just my guinea pig! :-)
