    Its just a matter of something you got used to ... we use here Kilo , Meter , Second ... I feel that the 'Mile' is too long and the 'Pound' is too weird and 'Gallon' .. just say 5 or 4 litres ... but we still use 'feddan' for measuring lands ... it may seem convenient to me but not for others .. because of how many times you heard this word or that word, you get a print in your mind that this is the appropriate measurement. try to use(listen and write) a different measurement system ... say for 16 days ... not years .. and you will accept it ...
