Use Custom Application as DefaultController (3.3)

I have built a custom application (use React view) that I need to function as landing page (root url) for my forum. How can I point that application to $Configuration['Routes']['DefaultController']? Is there another approach that would be better?

That is afaik the correct approach. But you don't even need code for that, you can just use /dashboard/routes.
