who can see the forum

I am a bit confused. I have set up a forum which of course I can see. Then I sign out but I can still see the forum discussions. If I go to a browser with no history of the forum I just see the login / register page.

I want to ensure that only registered users can access the forum, is this what the default behavior is?

    In the 'Settings' go to 'Manage Roles & Permissions' and switch on 'Enable Private Communities' if you haven't already. When it's enabled only signed in users should be able to access the forum content.

    Or remove 'View' permissions on categories you want to be 'logged-in-only' on your Guest role

    Insert categories in which users can publish discussions and those discussions will be visible those are published .
